Give to NYRA

The National Youth Rights Association is having a year end fund drive to try to raise a modest $1000. They're almost there, and could use your help.

Dear Blog

I'm sorry I've been neglecting you. I've been pretty busy over here. I just thought we needed a break and maybe to see other blogs. I know you'll understand. I always come back to you. Love, Ben

Sexism on MSNBC Election Coverage

Chris Matthews just said the following on MSNBC's election night coverage:

We were watching Hillary Clinton earlier tonight and she was giving a campaign barn burner speech, which is harder to give for a women, it can grate on some men when they listen to it....fingernails on a blackboard perhaps....

There's gonna' be some outrage, and deservedly so. Matthews should immediately apologize and face severe penalties from his NBC bosses.

My Apologies

Tonight a friend invited me to see a video on YouTube that she had made. I created a YouTube account and logged in, but was unable to find her video.  You tube has a "my friends" page, and since she had invited me to look at her video, I thought I might find her there. On the friends page, there's a box labeled "See if your friends are already on YouTube" and next to it "Import your address book from Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, or AOL."

November is coming....

It's almost that time!
Big Ten Wonk

Draft Obama dot Org

I've spent the last few days installing and configuring a new site, DraftObama.org, to serve as a grassroots gathering spot for the body politic to rally around a 2008 presidential run by Illinois Senator Barack Obama. I announced the rough draft of the site in a diary on MyDD, hopeful that others more talented and eloquent than I will join with me and help build something larger and more exciting than what you'll find now.

Lazypedia

My friend and co-worker Will has a new site/blog/experimental aircraft/infomercial called Lazypedia, where you can find his own musings as well as a compendium of links to help us all in our quest for laziness. Or, as The Right Reverend J.R. "Bob" Dobbs would call it, Slack. (That reference is for you, brother.)

So, go visit. Already on the site are some articles about the fine art of pizza making, as well as some correspondence with a silverware maker. (No, seriously. It's more interesting than it sounds.)

LiveBlogging Verizon FIOS in Montgomery County Hearing

[This is a liveblogging transcript of a public hearing about a proposed franchise agreement for Verizon FIOS TV. If you're interested in the issue, I recommend reading The Libes Libation, a blog all about these sorts of issues. In Reverse Chronological order.]
