Reward Dean For Making $1M by 9 PM EDT

Some folks on the DfA blog have set up a challenge, asking for people to pledge and extra amount if the bat reaches $1,000,000 by 9PM eastern time this evening.

Update, please read:Chrys posted a good observation: "There seems to be some confusion concerning the challenge. The ORIGINAL intent of the challenge is that you are pledging money to donate if the bat reaches 1 million by 9 p.m. ET, NOT money that you are donating right now. (However, this may change if things start getting very close by around 9:00...that's still under debate.)"

The Dean Weekend

Had a great weekend. Saturday was consumed by the Howard Dean Sleepless Summer Tour kick off in Falls Church. (Read more about it on the campaign blog. Over 4500 people gathered to cheer on our next President, as he spoke eloquently and pointedly on topics from national defense to healthcare to education.

Fox sues Franken over "fair and balanced"

Welcome to an updated Thrashing. To celebrate Fox's "parody of a parody" lawsuit this weblog is now certifiably "Fair and Balanced." (Certified by yours truly.)

Yes, that's right...Al Franken is being sued by Fox News for using the term Fair and Balanced in the subtitle to his new book, Lies and the Lying Liars who tell them. Fair and balanced has been a running gag on the Fox News channel since it launched. When you pay folks like Rush Limbaugh to shill for you on commercials during his radio show, that's a pretty good indication of how balanced your cable comedy channel is.

Why Apple TechSupportSucks

In the past year, I haven't had onegoodinteractionwithApple TechSupport, and with my day job, I have had lots of interactionwiththem. Not all of it istheirfault....Themachinedisappearingfromtheairborneexpress boxontheway back fromApplewas Airborne's fault, certainly. But muchof the blamecan be layed rightat thefoot of Apple's incompetent and annoyingly unreliable staff.

Moving in and unpacking

The genesis of this blog has a lot to do with what's going on right now in my life offline, and the process to get it up and running seems familiar.

I moved to a new apartment last weekend, and boxes are still piled in rooms. Pieces of particle board desks and Ikea tables are unassembled leaning against the walls. And address changes still have to be sent to virtually everyone.

And that's the way I feel about this blog. The layout isn't quite right, the content needs to be unpacked. I need to send this url to virtually everyone. But I'm here and I'll be staying for awhile.
